Vladimir Čalić

Vladimir Čalić was born in 1928 in Krbavica, in Lika. The area suffered greatly during the Second World War; he himself had the experience of being a refugee. In the time of Yugoslavia he lived in Lika with his wife. He was involved with agriculture and livestock farming. He had Croat friends from the neighbouring villages. Before the war in the 1990s, his older son lived in Zagreb and his younger son in Serbia. After Operation Storm he went to Serbia where he and his wife spent two years as refugees. During the war he developed diabetes. He returned to Lika in 1997.
